CAMPUS SAFETY POLICIES

Drug Policy

Students are strictly prohibited from possessing, creating, selling, distributing, or consuming illegal drugs, narcotics, or controlled substances as classified by local, state, or federal law, unless explicitly prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional. Violation of this policy will result in immediate expulsion and may lead to legal consequences. It is important to note that the expulsion process for drug-related offenses bypasses committee hearings or deliberations, and as a result, no appeals will be entertained.

Alcohol Policy

The possession, consumption, or presence of alcoholic beverages is not permitted on campus or during any off-campus activities that represent the University. Additionally, students are not allowed to host guests who bring alcoholic beverages onto campus. Using alcohol containers for decorative purposes in residential areas is also not permitted.

Policy on Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Assault

Engaging in sexual assault or harassment against any member of the community, including students, faculty, or staff, is strictly prohibited. Violation of this policy is not only an infringement on university rules but may also lead to severe legal repercussions. The University adheres to Title IX regulations and aims to provide a safe and respectful environment for all. Acts that qualify as sexual assault or interpersonal violence will face disciplinary actions, which may range from probation to expulsion. Students should be aware that university disciplinary actions do not preclude the possibility of criminal charges being filed against the individual.

Sexual Harassment

Unwanted or inappropriate sexual behavior that creates a hostile or stressful living, working, or learning environment is classified as sexual harassment. This also applies when such behavior is used as a basis for academic or employment decisions. Examples may include but are not limited to:

  • Unwanted sexual advances

  • Retaliation or threats after rejection of sexual advances

  • Offensive jokes or comments related to sexuality

  • Unsolicited comments about an individual's body or sexual experiences

  • Physical actions such as unwelcome touching or gestures

  • Displaying offensive or sexually suggestive material

A single episode of severe sexual misconduct can also be classified as sexual harassment. Sanctions may include suspension or expulsion and could extend to civil or criminal penalties.

Community Responsibility

All members of the University community are expected to comply with University policies and guidelines. This also extends to adherence to Title IX, as well as federal, state, and local laws, whether you are on campus or participating in off-campus activities. By outlining these policies clearly, our aim is to foster a community that is not only committed to academic excellence but also to ethical integrity and mutual respect. A safe and inclusive campus environment is a collective responsibility, and these policies are designed to serve as a guiding framework for acceptable behavior. Adherence to these rules ensures that each individual can fully engage with the University's diverse and enriching academic and social offerings without fear of harassment, discrimination, or other disruptive behavior. Remember, your actions reflect not only on you but also on the larger community that you are a part of.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to making our university a safe, respectful, and inclusive space for everyone.
