FINANCIAL AID OVERVIEW

The Office of Financial Aid (OFA) serves as a vital resource for students and their families, helping them navigate the various funding options available for their education, including federal, state, and private financial aid. Our office provides expert advice and support for completing required applications and submitting essential documentation to secure financial aid. Our primary aim is to clarify the financial aid process, empowering students to make informed decisions about their funding options.

While families are expected to contribute to the cost of college, we understand that it may not always be feasible to cover the full amount. Financial aid can offer a solution, bridging the financial gap for eligible students. Understanding the full spectrum of financial aid options is crucial to successfully fund your educational journey, and that's where the OFA steps in to provide invaluable guidance and information.

The financial aid application cycle, commonly known by its acronym FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), kicks off on October 1 each year. Students can use their FSA ID to access the application portal at www.studentaid.gov and should use Allen University's school code 003417 when applying. Each student is assigned a Financial Aid Counselor, who serves as the go-to resource for all matters related to financial aid. These counselors conduct loan counseling sessions and orientations, and also offer personalized one-on-one meetings to address individual questions and provide necessary documentation.

Financial Aid Counselors are easily accessible, available via phone during regular business hours, and reachable by email for queries from students, faculty, and staff. Students are encouraged to build a relationship with their Financial Aid Counselor, regularly meeting with them to stay up-to-date on their financial aid status. Your counselor should be your first point of contact for any inquiries about financial aid. Our team stands ready to provide you with comprehensive information and answers to your questions about a wide array of aid programs, be it state, federal, private, or institutional.
