Allen University proudly acknowledges alumnus Michael D. Finkley for his contributions to Antonio Vergara’s album The Fury, which has earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Finkley played a key role in shaping the album’s unique sound, blending traditional blues with international influences to create something fresh and exciting in the genre. Since its release on August 29, 2024, the 13-track album has garnered attention for its cultural fusion and innovative collaborations with artists from around the world.
Hailing from Mullins, South Carolina, Finkley graduated from Allen University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and continued his academic journey with graduate studies in Education and Higher Education Administration. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree, Finkley also hosts The Michael Finkley Show, an award-winning talk show on CTR Media Network. The show has become known for its meaningful conversations with influential voices and everyday individuals sharing their unique stories and has reached audiences across more than 100 countries. Finkley’s passion for media and storytelling started early, sparked by his mother, who was once a radio personality. He started his career with an internship at Glory Communications, eventually hosting his radio show, I Love Mullins. Today, he’s active in music, media, and motivational projects, driven by a deep belief in the power of stories and the importance of chasing one’s dreams. His belief is reflected in his song Biggest Dream Come True, and his book Biggest Dream Come True: The Power of Pursuing Your Dreams and Reaching for the Stars, encouraging others to embrace their aspirations and persist in their life journey.
