(Columbia, S.C.) – Allen University prepares to send its student body home while continuing the mission of the semester, maintaining a healthy environment. Every student at Allen University will leave on November 25 with a personal protective equipment (PPE) care package for their entire immediate family.

The PPE care packages include ten washable cloth masks, one box of fifty disposable masks, one container of hand sanitizer, several individual hand sanitizing packets, disposable gloves, assorted non-perishable food items, and written materials outlining COVID -19 best practices.

The University’s initiative to prepare students with PPE for their entire families was rounded out with donations from The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and The Fairfield -McClelland Chapter of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus.

All students will undergo mandatory testing for COVID-19 on November 24, prior to departing for the semester. It has been a top priority of the institution to impress upon students the importance of COIVD-19 protocols. “As students prepare to return home, it is imperative that students protect not only themselves but also their families by following CDC guidelines,” explained Allen University President, Dr. Ernest McNealey. Students will undergo COVID-19 testing prior to being re-admitted to residence halls or class upon their return in January.

PPE care packages will be distributed from the lower level of Arnett Hall, on the main campus of Allen University, on Thursday-Friday, November 19-20.
