Dr. Toyletta Riley, NBCT, Chair of the Levett School of Education and Assistant Professor of Education at Allen University, has been selected by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) to serve on the statewide Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) Clinical Experiences Workgroup.
The selection places an Allen faculty leader at the center of statewide decisions about how future teachers are prepared. Those decisions will reach classrooms across South Carolina, and they will shape the path for Yellow Jackets studying to become educators today.
As a member of the workgroup, Riley will collaborate with education leaders, teacher preparation professionals and policymakers across the state. Together, they will review and recommend ways to strengthen clinical experience requirements, policies and best practices for educator preparation programs statewide.
Riley will help shape policies and practices that:
Review and recommend clinical experience requirements for teacher candidates
Identify and promote best practices in educator preparation
Support policies that strengthen teacher effectiveness and candidate readiness
Strengthen partnerships between educator preparation programs, school districts and communities
Advance innovation and excellence in teacher preparation across South Carolina
Her appointment reflects both her professional expertise and Allen’s commitment to advancing teacher preparation and student success across South Carolina.
Riley leads the Levett School of Education, which prepares visionary, compassionate and culturally responsive educators who lead with purpose. The school combines rigorous coursework, hands-on clinical experiences and community partnerships to develop educators ready to thrive in today’s classrooms.
